Brian Palermo

Brian Palermo is a professional actor and communications expert (wiki). An alumnus from the prestigious, Goundlings Theatre in Los Angeles, Brian brings his 20 years of experience and expertise in invoking emotion to science communication. Brian’s skills unique experience in acting, improvisation, and storytelling is a great contribution to SCC. His workshops use the experiential learning of improvisational theatre to upgrade your performance across industry, the scientific enterprise, and sketch and comedy.

BRIAN PALERMO

David Shiffman

Dr. David Shiffman is faculty research associate at Arizona State University. He uses his expertise in interdisciplinary marine conservation biology and science communication to help students engage with the public in addition to politicians. He is also internationally recognized and award-winning expert in the practice of public science engagement. He has trained over 1,000 early career scientists, conservationists, and government officials how to use modern communications tools and
techniques to engage with stakeholders at workshops all over the world.

Stacey Lutkoski

Stacey Lutkoski is the managing editor of American Scientist magazine, where she collaborates with authors on producing their best work for an interdisciplinary audience of science enthusiasts. She is an expert at translating academic and scholarly writing into accessible SciCom without “dumbing down” the research. Stacey believes that scholarship is most valuable when it reaches people who can implement findings, whether in the lab, in policy, or in daily life. She is excited to join SciCom Consulting where she can share her enthusiasm for helping scientists broaden their reach.

Wendy Lovelady

Wendy Lovelady is a writer, editor, and exhibit developer at the largest natural science museum in the Southeast. Her vibrant writing style and user-centered approach to exhibit design have created lasting impacts on millions of visitors. She favors a clear message delivered in a warm and welcoming tone—no nonsense, yes empathy. Over her twenty-five years in the museum industry, Wendy has worn many pencils to a nub, erased countless first drafts, and shredded more than one metaphor in the service of science communication.
